Jessi finally succumbed to whatever bug her boys and husband have so today I unexpectedly needed to work Hannah. I had a full day, only had 90 minutes to work her so picked her up and headed to Lion's Park, first, to get her ya-ya's over and done with. Then we headed to 86 Lumber, a new place to train.
Did fine on heeling and turns and Sit/Stay's but oh my, Hannah gets freaked out with men in dark clothes. She perceives them as 'monsters' so I had to work extra to work her past her reaction to this young man, named Kenny.
Then, we went outside so I could work on Kenny approaching her (actually Week 4 material) and lo'n'behold, THAT took some doing for her to experience success. Whew! And I worked her on the Stack Stand to a FULL 60 seconds!!
And then took Hannah home as Aleacia was kind and offered me hot tea, a metal chair and some great conversation while Hannah did Quiet Time.
You know what?
Hannah CRASHED out quickly. Which goes to show that it isn't the length of the training session that is tiring, it is the intensity at which a dog is worked that is tiring.
| I was SO COLD today...brrrrr. All in all, despite a very limited amount of training time together, it was a GREAT day for Hannah to face her perceived monsters. |
Interesting and challenging training today at 86 lumber in Monroe.
