Hannah was NOTICABLY more in 'work mode' instead of her JACKED UP ##$!%#@! mode that showed up on Monday, Tuesday AND Wednesday. Whatever was going on, she has settled MUCH easier today than earlier this week. Praise God as this is Week 5 and there are two tough EXAMS and one Pop Quiz which must be passed for her to advance to the off-leash work which begins Week 7.
Anyway, I warmed her up just a smidge at the Richfield Park today. And I made an unexpected discovery, something I've NEVER seen before, EVER, in that many people had drawn and written sayings in colored chalk on the sidewalks. While I did not agree with all of the statements written in chalk, these were excellent, so I share them here for you. Hannah was perfectly well behaved on the LL as I took these photos.
Rather cool, yes?
Onward to the Ladies Bible Study we went and today, unlike last Friday when Hannah got so agitated when I was agitated, I kept my stories monotone so as not to cause her any stress. She settled QUICKLY into QT, after about 30 minutes and remained there as people left. I did have a few minutes to have Dawn video tape me and have Sara and Cheryl do Approach by a Stranger. All in all, Hannah did well.
Then we went to the park. I was waiting for Kim and Kara so started the Extended Sit/Stay and Out of Sight Stay with Hannah. She only needed a few light corrections to hold her Sit/Stay.
Atta girl, Hannah!
Worked on Diminishing Circles too.
Then, it was finally time to do some focused Week 5 heeling. I wanted to show Kim HOW to work a dog, with intensity and focus, to require the dog to pay attention. Here's the warmup:
One of the KEY indicators to being able to pass the Week 5 EXAMs is knowing if the dog is 'reading your feet'. Clearly, Hannah is 'reading my feet'.
The Week 5 EXAM # 1 Video 1
Video 2 (phone ceased recording when a phone call came in)
AND this EXAM, while not perfect IS a pass. Hannah IS working FOR and WITH me.
Onward to Bar 86 for lunch and a few snippets of training.
And Hannah was TOAST after that. She EVEN did QT while we ate lunch AND curled up and went to sleep.
Atta girl, Hannah!
Hannah had a VERY successful day today!!!
