The 3 Muskateers Group Class: Hannah, Kara & Nellie: Thursday 3-24 thru Saturday 3-26Week 11: Roxanne works Hannah on ecollar

Well, what a week! Left eye cataract surgery (sure showing my 66 years of age here). And some interesting challenges arose because of the surgery

So, I am grateful I had already completed Hannah's Week 9 EXAM, the AKC Beginner Novice run thru, March 14, 2022

Also, grateful I have already completed Hannah's Week 10 EXAM, the AKC Novice run thru, March 18, 2022.

With these two final FOUNDATION Course EXAMS completed and passed, Hannah IS a Graduate of my FOUNDATION Course with me as her handler. Jessi is finishing up her Week 9/10 EXAMS to post and she is also done. Aleacia will complete each of the FOUNDATION Course EXAMS and post for my review and my feedback.

But part of the contract was that the Tech Savvy ecollar work would be also taught. Now, I can't teach the Tech Savvy Lesson 3/4 until Aleacia completes her Week 10 EXAM as it will mess up Hannah's ability to do those EXAMS correctly, so until that is done, Hannah will learn to Tech Savvy Lesson 1/2 this week with me and next week I'll work on her Tech Savvy Lesson 5/6. Additionally, Hannah has ALREADY grasped the meaning of the ecollar 'pressure' and so I have added doing Heeling, AS and Call to Heel with the ecollar. Rather amazing HOW RAPIDLY Hannah is grasping the transference from collar pressure to ecollar pressure. She IS a VERY SMART DOG.

So, here is what Hannah did on Thursday 3-24-2022.

I took Chonnie and Pree to Monroe Flats and we hiked the first hill we found. Hannah pestered Pree until I taught her the command of "Leave it" with ecollar pressure. I did some Recalls to SSIF with the formal "Hannah, Come!", then the Finish and EF before releasing here with the command of "Hannah OK". But I also added in the Mannerly Puppy command of "Let's Go" to get her moving away from a location or to get her close to me as we hiked. At the end of the hike, I didn't want her slamming into me with SSIF, so reintroduced, "Hannah, Here! - Touch, ok" as a way to get her close to me without the formal Recall.

SHE DID GREAT and it was easier and safer for me to do that versus the formal Recall. Hannah tired out quickly, so we cut the hike short and took her home. Aleacia, you said she was very quiet and relaxed at home Thursday night. Pack Runs will sure take the starch'n'vinegar out of a dog so they are happy to be relaxed at home.

Friday 3-25-2022

Picked up Hannah early so I could run her before AND after Ladies Bible Study. The temperatures have skyrocketed so I have to work her earlier. I have been using the ecollar and having Hannah 100% off-leash for Call to Heel, Heel, AS. She's getting it remarkably fast.

Opted to take her to the trail going up to Richfield Water Tower before Bible Study. She did great, but I was wearing cute boots, NOT hiking boots so slipped on the shale on the way down. Hannah IMMEDIATELY came to me to see if I was ok? She would not leave me until I gave her the release command.

I scraped up my palms as I fell forward so got Hannah loaded and at the church without any more issues. I needed to wash my torn up palms, grateful I have trained students in Bible Study who can handle Hannah when I need to leave the room.

After that, I needed to do another Pack Run, but somewhere with flat dirt road so headed to the OVA behind Glenwood. One of my favorite places!

Again, Hannah was quite tired when she got home. The Pack Runs are AWESOME for expending pent up energy, building muscles, and letting a dog move normally without restraint.

Saturday 3-26-2022

I ran my younger dogs early this morning with Chonnie, then went and got Hannah, picked up Kim, and away we went to Monroe Flats. I had my eye on a dirt road winding up an enticing canyon from the main road. IT WAS GLORIOUS!
