Well, here is my week 3, test 1.  This one os HARD on my knee so it took awhile and was still kind of hard coordination wise fo rme right now but I just wanted to get it in.  Hannah had a little hard time on the stand and I realize we have a weakness there so we will continue to work on it.  Mid video she had picked up something so that what happened there.  Hopefully this is good!  I am anxious to keep going even though this ballet has taken a whole lot of attention and time along with my bummer knee!

  1. Pass. Good work. Pointers:

    1) Your 'J' loop seems a smidgen long. Do you have it that long to avoid any pressure on your left knee? If so, ok. If that is not the reason, make your 'J' loop a smidgen shorter.

    2) Are you able to bend your knees? If no, ok. If yes, then on the KISS bend your knees a bit so that becomes part of the cues Hannah needs to 'read' the KISS.

    3) On the Sit/Stay, when a dog drops their head below their shoulders, as Hannah did on your first effort, go into her face and give a quick, sharp upward leash correction which is the Sit/Stay Correction. Anytime a dog drops their head below their shoulders on Sit or Stand, they are going to break so correct them for thinking it. On Sit/Stay, praise under the chin to encourage eye contact.

    4) On the Stand, your mechanics are off which is why Hannah is struggling. The right foot goes forward in front of dogs front paws to prevent the forward movement Hannah is making. She is walking into the Stand, called the Alternative Stand, used for dogs like GSD. For a square dog, you want that Kick Back Stand, where the dogs front feet remain frozen as you command "Stand", your right foot blocks their forward movement and they 'Kick back' their back legs INTO the Stand. Also, from the angle of the camera. I COULD not see the leash? As soon as she's in a Stand, ALL/ANY leash pressure ceases. Easiest way to ensure that happens is yo drip the excess Safety Loops so the leash is a BIG 'J' and to ensure their is nada, zero, zip, no leash pressure of any kind.

    Does all that make sense?

  2. You will fond that doing the Stand on a Place Board or elevated surface makes teaching the Kick Back Stand easy
